21 weeks

Hard to believe I'm in my 21st week and start the 22nd week Sunday! Time sure if passing by.

Here's my weekly pic!

PS- My gestational diabetes test is scheduled for November 21st, so I am assuming my talk and ultrasound with 'Colleen' will be the same day. So looks like we won't find out the sex before my shower! Oh well!!! Still not that far away now.

Dr's appointment today!

Went to see the Doc today. Everything was great! She told us that the ultrasound results were perfect and that the baby is growing properly. She measured my belly and it's right on track - 21cm. My blood pressure was excellent 128/68, but I gained 5lbs!! That puts me at 4lbs gained so far, because I had lost in the beginning. She said my weight gain so far is great, half way done the pregnancy and only 4lbs gained. 20-22 lbs gained throughout the pregnancy for me should be what I should gain. So we'll see what happens there! Baby's heartbeat was 144bpm. We asked Dr. Keating about the OBYN that would be delivering, because at the beginning she either told us or someone from the office told us that she does some prenatal then sends us to an OBGYN. Turns out, she does the delivering unless there are complications in the pregnancy. So as it stands, she will be delivering baby McKinley. Our due date is March 9th, not the 10th as we had thought.

Also, she indicated that when we go for our glucose testing (which she was making the referal for today) we would most likely be meeting with the famous 'Colleen' in the Matenrity Ward to do the other ultrasound and get updated with all the prenatal classes and stuff. So hopefully it won't be much longer now! We want to know before the baby shower on November 18th. So we'll see!

We bought a heart to heart monitor from Toys R Us on Saturday. It says that you can hear the heartbeat, depending on various factors, between 21-28 weeks. We hear kicks on it so far, and only my heartbeat. hopefully it won't be much longer before we hear the heart. The kicks are hilarious! Most I don't feel but it's so sensitive to sound that you hear the baby bumping around. Supposidly I can record it through the computer so I may try that this weekend and send something along.

Here is a pic of me from Friday night. I'm still managing to fit into some work pants, but I have to keep them below my belly. They fit snug around the tank when I stand up but to sit down, it's too tight!!! (Remember, I started out with bit of a belly to begin with!)

Painted the nursery!

That's right, we got the nursery painted on the weekend! The landlord came to finish fixing the closets and we got to work! We painted the whole nursery - ceiling, walls, trim and the closets! The color is kind of a sand/light brown I guess you could call it. They didn't have a chip at Walmart to go by, we had to improvise and Wes found a color on a paint can so tore a piece of the wrapper off! It matched perfectly and we love the color! He's such a smarty!

We also got the crib together and was able to get things set up a bit, nothing major, just the furniture put in place. Sooo exciting!

That's our news for now!! We'll keep you posted!

Mommy To be

I have a little wish for you
for you my mommy-to-be,
this is a way for me to say
thank you for loving me!

I wished upon the twinkling stars
for you , my mommy to know,
that I can already feel
all the love you show!

How you rub your belly
and sing me a sweet song,
and how you ask my daddy
to join in and sing along!

Sometimes it is hard I know
to always do what's right,
like watching what you eat
to make my future bright!

You've already made me happy
my loving mommy-to-be,
you're not waiting until I'm born
you are already loving me!

You will know my wish came true
when you feel how much I care,
a little wish from baby
with so much love to share!

19 weeks

Here is my 19th week pic from http://www.whattoexpect.com/

Hard to believe week 20 starts on Sunday!!!

Wow.....

So yesterday was ultrasound day! The day couldn't have passed any slower!! My appointment was for 2:30 so I picked Wes up at 2 and headed to the hospital. Maybe this is the way all ultrasound appointments go, I'm not sure, but I didn't enjoy most of it. The sonographer hardly spoke, and when I mean hardly said my name, told me to get on the bed and pull my pants down some. That was it until she told me to go and pee a bit about 20 minutes later. Then she asked what Wes' name was and called him in. Just seem so emotionless, very cold. God I got more attention signing in for when I got blood work! None the less, we got to see our little peantu! It was amazing! I couldn't spot a kiwi or petunia but we did get to see he/she's heart pumping, little legs, arms and little fingers move! The baby was sleeping and laying towards my back so the sonographer got me to sit up and lay back down to see if the baby would move so we could see he/she's head. It worked! As soon as I layed back down and she put the thing back on me, the baby was looking straight at us. We could see the eyes, nose and mouth - then he/she let out a big yawn! It was either that or saying Hi to us! It was pricless, at that moment, the tears started! Unbelieveable!!! The tears didn't stop until we hit the car, adn even then, I had a hard time to contain then them!

I can't wait now for the next one, which will hopefully be something in the next 3-4 weeks then the UC baby in December!!! Time can't go by fast enough!

Ultrasound tomorrow!!

Yup, that's right our ultrasound is tomorrow. Despite my disappointment from last week, I'm dealing with it and am accepting it. At least we get to see the little bugger, right?!?! We're both extremely excited to see him or her. From what some people have told me, I should be called sometime after the ultrasound to set up another appointment at 22 weeks and then will get to find out the sex. I'll keep ya's all posted.

Other than that, things are going well. WE've been taking walks each night, which feels great this time of the year. Our landlord came to complete about 90% of the closets in the baby's room on Monday. Hopefully he'll be back to top it off this week so we can paint on the weekend. That's our tentative plans anyway.

That's it for now! Stay tuned!

18 weeks

Wow, hard to believe we're almost done our 18th week already!! Here's the pic from http://www.whattoexpect.com/

After my last post and doc appointment I checked with a few people here form Miramichi (actually nurses from the hospital that I know) to see how this all worked - ultrasound etc.. From what they tell me, after my results of next weeks' ultrasound gets in the computer system, I should get a call from the sonographer on Maternity and she will get me to come in to go over prenatal classes, breastfeeding clinics, another ultrasound, and my glucose testing. This should be 2-3 weeks after my first ultrasound. So this makes me a bit happier, knowing that we may know by the end of the month, and before my shower. Mainly I want to know so we can get the painting done before it's too cold. If we don't get our appointment before the end of October we may go ahead and paint anyway. Something neutral. We've actually found a color, kind of goes with one color on the comforter set we want.

Still haven't felt much movement baby wise. I'm hoping it'll 'kick' in soon! haha! Just to let me know the little bugger is doing ok! We still play music almost every night for him/her. I may start with some more upbeat music during the day to see if I get any reaction.

Other than that, I still haven't been sleeping the best. I need to find a good body pillow. I can't seem to find one that's not so soft!

Big Congratulations to Julie and Gerry on their little one, born October 2 - Cassandra was born at 12:13 am on Oct. 2 weighing 7lbs 11 onces, 20 inches long. Here is a pic of her. (Hope you don't mind that I posted a pic Julie and Gerry)

Wes has just finished up his 2nd week of school and is moving right along!! He's doing awesome! I'm soo proud of him!!! He's already completed 2 courses to date and may finish another one today. So far his marks have been a 94% and a 95%.

I took a pic of myself to show my progress. Of course, being overweight I won't get the nice perfect belly that most smaller women do. I started out with somewhat of a belly to begin with but it is increasing, when I used to look down between my boobs, I didn't see belly, now I do! And to boot, I'm still down 1 lbs. I lost 4 to being with and have only put 3 back. Here is my pic at 18 weeks.

One last note, Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Hope you have a great long weekend!

Disappointed....

We had another check up today. We found out that we won’t find the sex out at that ultrasound appointment that is scheduled next week. That one is done by Radiology and I go in alone, they do the measurements then Wes can come in for a few minutes, no pics no nothing. The next one – that is scheduled by Maternity Ward is the one they will disclose the sex and give pics if you want it. So I’m a bit disappointed, I think Wes is too. Anyway, what can you do. I’m not sure when that appointment is, but am hoping to find out soon. I guess they call you around 20 weeks to set up an appointment for you to go to the hospital to the Maternity Ward to go through all that stuff plus prenatal classes, etc. But I don't know what week that appointment is. Doctor mentioned possibly when they do the gestational diabetes test, but I don't know what week that is either.

All in all, appointment went ok besides that. Heartbeat was 145!! I gained 2 lbs but am still in the minus from when I started. She’s upping my blood pressure pills a bit because my blood pressure was up and has been for a few weeks (I’ve been feeling like it’s up more the past two weeks). I had issues before hand with it, so it's not a suprise.
